| Het was voor regisseur Saleem in 2003 nog niet mogelijk om te filmen in zijn thuisland dus verlegde hij de plaats van handeling naar Armenië. Het Armeense dorpje, gelegen tussen ruige besneeuwde bergen, is arm en de inwoners lijken niets anders te kunnen doen dan de zelfgestookte citroenwodka te drinken. Saleem toont een kleine dorpsgemeenschap die probeert te overleven op het breukvlak van het oude 'beschermde' Sovjettijdperk en de huidige vrijheid. Saleem kan niet heen om een politieke inbreng maar verpakt de boodschap in een prachtig gefilmd werk waarbij humor en terughoudendheid voor de nodige relativering zorgen.
